Don’t let the high summer temperatures scare you away from Palm Springs. There are several ways to enjoy the city while beating the heat.
Jump in the pool
We have more than 80 boutique hotels in Palm Springs, and each one has at least one pool. Most are open 24/7, so if the mood strikes for a night swim, you can dive in and look up at the stars.
Crank the air conditioning
All of our boutique hotels are equipped with air conditioning, so you can get comfortable in your room while retreating from the heat. You can also enjoy AC while shopping, eating at our restaurants, or watching a movie or live theater performance.
Head out at night…
While summer nights are still warm, it can be easier to get around after dark, when the temperatures are lower than in the day. Go for a neighborhood stroll, have a drink at a bar, or settle in by your hotel pool — these are all great ways to spend a night in Palm Springs. Some stores also stay open later during the summer, so call and check on their closing times.
…Or get up early
If you want to have an active vacation, your best bet is getting up before the sun to go hiking, play some tennis, or hit the links. By 10 a.m., it will be hot and time to seek shade. Don’t forget your bottles of water and sunscreen!
Take the tram
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway whisks visitors up to the San Jacinto Mountains, where temperatures are usually 20 degrees cooler than in Palm Springs. The views of the Coachella Valley are gorgeous, and you can walk around the mountain, get a bite to eat, and pick up souvenirs in the gift shop. This is the world’s largest rotating tram car and definitely worth a ride.
