Built by Palm Springs Hoteliers. Designed to Help Boutique Hotels Thrive.
Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels (PSPSH) was created by independent hotel owners who believed Palm Springs deserved a better way to showcase its remarkable collection of boutique hotels. Rather than competing alone, they came together to celebrate what makes small hotels special—and to help travelers discover authentic Palm Springs experiences while booking directly with the hotels themselves.
Today, PSPSH is the definitive marketing collective for Palm Springs boutique hotels with fewer than 50 rooms. Guided by local hoteliers and managers who live and work in the community, the organization connects independent hotels with travelers through destination marketing, public relations, storytelling, partnerships, and direct-booking opportunities that benefit both guests and hotel owners.
Created by Hoteliers. Administered by the City.
PSPSH operates in two ways: 1) as a non-profit public benefit corporation responsible for managing finances, and 2) as the Palm Springs Small Hotel Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Advisory Board, which develops and determines where and how the collected dollars will be spent in support of all the TBID members. Established in 2016 through a series of Town Hall meetings, the TBID was created by local small hotel owners and managers in partnership with the City of Palm Springs to strengthen the visibility and economic vitality of the city’s independently owned boutique hotels.
The operating committee is composed of Palm Springs hotel owners and managers, many of whom are also active members of Small Hotels Palm Springs (SHoPS) and the Desert Gay Tourism Guild (DGTG). As a public advisory body, committee meetings are conducted in accordance with California’s Brown Act and are open to interested members of the public. The program is funded through a 1% Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) assessment paid by participating boutique hotels.
PSPSH works collaboratively with the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism and the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau, plus local businesses and attractions, to promote Palm Springs as one of the world’s premier boutique hotel destinations.
