Nov. 5-8: Greater Palm Springs Pride. It’s time for all things Pride! The event kicks off with a rainbow-colored street party on Arenas Road at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 and runs through the weekend. This pedestrian-only party will feature live performances by The Cowgays and Aubrey O’Day.

The 40th Annual Palm Springs Parade rolls in at 10 a.m. on Nov. 8. This year’s theme is “Be Included,” with grand marshals Fortune Feimster (National Grand Marshal), Cheyenne Jackson (Celebrity Grand Marshal), Dottie Dubois/Marshall Pearcy (Pride Royalty for Life), and Gary Moline (Community Grand Marshal). Later that day, you can also catch Feimster at the Plaza Theatre performing her show “Takin’ Care of Biscuits.” Jackson will also be at the McCallum Theatre that evening, presenting “That Guy From That Thing.”

Pride month continues with Pride on the Page at The Palm Springs Cultural Center on Saturday, Nov. 14, celebrating LGBTQIA+ authors and allies.

The flavors of the desert

All the details you need to know about the Palm Springs Food and Wine Festival.

Nov. 13-15: Palm Springs Food and Wine Festival. This annual food and wine fest is back and better than ever in its new location at Downtown Park. Beside our city’s beloved ‘Forever Marilyn’ statue will be celebrity chefs, including Jamie Gwen and Dave Martin, live demos, and tastings from a range of local restaurants, wineries, bars, and shops.

Sip and savor your way through it all — expect wines made in California and around the world, the comfort food classics of Zin American Bistro, Asian-fusion fare at Boozehounds, Italian delights of Cipolline Osteria, and sweet treats from Gelato-A-Go-Go. No matter your preference or palate, you’re bound to find something that satisfies.

Rest assured that if it rains (as it did last year), the fun isn’t diluted. The show goes on rain or shine. Organizers were prepared and gave out free ponchos so patrons (me included) didn’t let it dampen the day. It’s Palm Springs, of course, so the sun eventually came out — along with a rainbow.

Bonus: Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels guests and Boutiquely Palm Springs readers can take 15% off admission with the code PSFW15.

Nov. 21, 11 a.m. to  6 p.m.: Coachella Valley Filipino Festival. Downtown Park will once again be a destination for foodies. The Coachella Valley Filipino Festival is a lively community event open to all, with free admission. Come explore and celebrate Filipino culture with live music and dance performances. And food, of course! More than 60 food and marketplace vendors are scheduled to be there, giving attendees the chance to indulge in traditional Filipino fare, like lumpia and lechon, and discover handcrafted items from local Southern California artisans. You might even get a head start on some holiday shopping.
