Welcome to September! That wonderful interim where summer hasn’t quite ended and the fall season hasn’t quite begun. Temperatures still soar but the end is in sight. Restaurants are reopening after a summer hiatus. Soon the snowbirds will be filtering into town, and the city will be buzzing with a bevy of events.
Take full advantage of this time and keep that summer relaxation going with spa deals, or step into season with kickoff events, reopenings, and live entertainment. And remember to make your plans for Modernism next month, so you don’t miss out on any of the fun.

September is Greater Palm Springs Spa Month, and you can extend the summer by indulging in some great deals on spas across the Coachella Valley. After their annual summer hiatus, the iconic Purple Room officially reopened for season on Sept. 1. There’s live entertainment on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights along with weekend shows, including the iconic The Judy Show! on Sundays.
Sept. 16: 2026 Business Expo & Taste of Palm Springs, 5 to 9 p.m. This annual kick-off event to the season is put on by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. Bring your curiosity and appetites and get acquainted with over 100 local businesses and more than 40 food and wine vendors. Graze your way around the perfectly manicured grounds of Indian Canyons Golf Resort surrounded by the stunning San Jacinto Mountains while being serenaded by a Sir Rod Stewart tribute band.
P.S.: If you are a fan of food events, tickets are now available for November’s Palm Springs International Food & Wine Festival, taking place at the Downtown Park under the “Forever Marilyn” statue.
Sept. 19 and 26: PS Underground. PS Underground is always pushing the envelope on immersive creative events combining live entertainment, secret menus, and signature drinks. This month features vocalist and storyteller Francesca Amari as she brings a beloved comedian back to life on Sept. 19 in You Make Me Laugh: A Love Song to Gilda Radner. For fans of musicals, Broads of Broadway on Sept. 26 celebrates the leading ladies who have graced the stage and stayed in our hearts.

October 15-18: Modernism Fall Show. While the major Modernism Week event takes place in February, this fall preview is not to be missed. Architecture tours, live talks, films, and presentations are abundant, as well as modernism experiences like the Swinging 60s on Route 66 charity car show, curated vintage clothing sales, mid-century cocktail classes, and wine tastings.
New this year on the menu of options is Modernism Week Fall Dining Series. Chefs at some of the city’s most iconic restaurants have created multi-course menus specifically for Modernism, including Mr. Lyons, Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge, King’s Highway, & Bar Issi.
PS Underground will be offering a Sunny Side Up multi-course musical brunch with mimosas and mocktails as well as a Nod to Mod, where you’ll enjoy a four-course dinner and flowing drinks while music transports you back to the 1940s through to the ’60s.
Sunset at the Lautner Compound is a personal favorite of mine. There is no better time than twilight to experience this boutique hotel and event space. Owners and designers Tracy Beckmann and Ryan Trowbridge will be there to share their story and answer questions.
Once the sun goes down, the fun continues with Modernism Week After Dark with DJ Bobby at the newly renovated Amigo Room, or dance the night away with DJ Aylex Song at Spirit Animal.
