The Descanso Resort offers the ultimate getaway for men looking to rest, relax, and have a vacation they’ll never forget. The Descanso Resort is the first men’s resort to open in Palm Springs in more than a decade, and is the brother property of the Santiago Resort. This stunning and stylish property — formerly the East Canyon Hotel & Spa and Uptown Hotel — was renovated from top to bottom in 2021, with the 16 rooms and common areas totally transformed. “What we set out to do is draw a line from the Palm Springs of the 1950s, when Hollywood put it on the map, to the comfortable, non-fussy vibe that travelers today really look for,” General Manager Charles Zalepeski said. “Rock Hudson may never have slept here, but if he had, he definitely would have written home about it.” Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a smile and a bag filled with snacks. Inside their spacious and well-appointed room, they’ll find a king-sized bed, luxury linens and bath products, and a refrigerator. The Descanso Resort perfectly blends indoor/outdoor living, and some rooms open up onto beautiful balconies, where guests can take in sweeping mountain views. The manicured grounds feature native plants and palms, and the spa and heated swimming pool, surrounded by luxe day beds, are natural gathering spots. The mist cooling system and poolside garden shower are a relief on those sizzling summer days, while the communal fire pit is a great place to meet other guests during winter nights. A continental breakfast is served in the morning and guests who stay on property during the day can enjoy a complimentary lunch by the pool; there are also snacks and beverages available in the cantina. Zalepeski is excited to introduce the world to Descanso, and has already led several guests from the Santiago on tours of the property. He can tell that people are “very excited to have another option that feels so familiar, but different in its own way,” and is looking forward to seeing what the future brings. “I cannot begin to express how proud we all are of the new hotel, and the response has been amazing,” Zalepeski said. “Many of the guests staying with us feel like they are exploring an entirely new area of town. They are discovering the Design District and all the wonderful stores and restaurants that are in this area.”
