With relatively flat terrain, dedicated bike lanes in the heart of downtown, and beautiful views in most every direction, Palm Springs is a great city to explore by bicycle. Several Palm Springs Preferred Small Hotels, including Santiago Resort, Inn at Palm Springs, and Villa Royale offer classic multi-speed bicycles for you to borrow so it’s easy to go for a spin when the mood strikes.
Now there’s a new way to leave the city streets behind and experience even more of the desert on two wheels. The growing CV Link is a well-designed series of recreational pathways that wind for miles through some of the Coachella Valley’s most beautiful desert scenery.
What is the CV Link?
Think of the CV Link as a modern promenade for cyclists, e-bikes, walkers, and joggers. Unlike congested streets or sidewalks, the CV Link offers a wide, smooth surface and separation from traffic, so it feels safe and unhurried — perfect for a breezy morning cruise or a golden-hour glide. With the San Jacinto Mountains towering to the west, every mile of the CV Link delivers iconic Palm Springs views, like big skies and desert landscapes.
What you’ll see
Along the CV Link near Palm Springs, you’ll trace the dry river channel fringed with desert flora and glimpse mid-century neighborhoods, golf greens, and the classic fan palms that give our city its name. Keep an eye out for public art, windmills, and the occasional roadrunner darting across your path.
Tips for a perfect ride
Hydration is queen in the desert, so fill your bottle at the resort before you head out. Sunglasses and lots of sunscreen are also essential. At Santiago Resort, they provide the helmets and bike locks. While you’re on the trail, remember to use proper cycling etiquette (stay to the right, offer a friendly “on your left” when passing, and share the path with a smile). And if you’re planning to take a longer ride north, make sure to ask hotel staff about conditions before you leave. It can get windy out there!
