The Velvet Rope offers a step back in time, to the glamorous days when Hollywood’s biggest stars would escape to Palm Springs for fun in the sun. This luxurious nine-room boutique hotel is in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood, and was originally built in 1952 by renowned architect Herbert W. Burns. Today, it is a tribute to Old Hollywood, and each accommodation, designed by David Rios, has its own glamorous theme. The Presidential Estate is bold and beautiful, with regal green drapes and art deco wallpaper, as well as a spacious living room, kitchenette, and poolside entry. The lovely Lavender Suite takes its inspiration from Elizabeth Taylor, and has a dry bar, makeup vanity, and rainfall shower, while the Honeymoon Suite is all about Elvis, with peacock stained glass and touches of blue velvet, just like you’d find a Graceland. Guests looking for entertainment don’t have to leave the property. Bar Valerie is just steps away from each room, and offers small plates, beer and wine, and craft cocktails. Throughout the week, there are special events held inside the bar, from live music sets to burlesque performances.
