Owners Soli Cayetano, Josh Dobken, Diana Ossa, and Carrick Young created a destination where “people who feel stressed or burned out can come and discover a place to relax and try new healing modalities,” Soli said. “We went on a journey of trying to figure out how to fit as much wellness into the property as possible.” In addition to the sauna, rain room, and cold plunge — all complimentary amenities for guests to use during their stay, any time they please — Terra Palm Springs also boasts a spa offering centering Ayurveda treatments like the Dry Herbal Powder Lymphatic Detox and Choorna Pinda Poultice Massage. “Wellness in general is a growing industry — it’s no longer a luxury but something people aspire to do every day and incorporate into their lives,” Soli said. She finds that the Terra’s rain room is a “deeply meditative experience, it’s basically a thunderstorm in a room,” while the Himalayan salt sauna provides purification. “There is something about being in there with warm salt blocks, it just feels different,” Soli said. “A lot of negative ions are released from salt blocks, and the experience is very meditative.” The partners purchased the Terra Palm Springs property, formerly the Bearfoot Inn, in June 2024. They all fell in love with the “stunningly beautiful” landscape of Palm Springs and its “amazing energy,” and the hotel’s prime location near restaurants and shops. “The views are also phenomenal,” Soli said. “To walk in and see the mountains in front of you is pretty amazing.” The 13 rooms tie in with the name Terra, which “points to the Earth and is very grounding,” Diana, the designer and architect of the project, said. “It’s even in the color scheme we’ve chosen. A lot of the rooms attempt to bring the outdoors inside, with pebble stone in the bathrooms and our vanities custom made out of travertine. All of our finishes are really textural and tactile.” Wellness amenities are included in the rooms and suites, and there are also add-ons available like red light therapy masks and electromagnetic mats for sleeping and meditating. Each space also has its own special feature: the Movement Room boasts a private fitness patio while the Deluxe Spa includes a 72-inch indoor soaking tub. Guests looking to relax outside can take advantage of the heated pool and hot tub and order from the full bar serving health-inspired wine, mocktails, and cocktails like the Terrarita, made with marine collagen, avocado, and tequila. “We cater toward a lot of people who are sober curious, and we have a lot of options that are both alcoholic and nonalcoholic in the room mini-bars,” Soli said. Guests will also find other goodies, like kombucha, probiotic drinks, shower steamers, non-psychedelic mushroom gummies, body scrubs, and face masks. For Soli, the goal is for every guest to enjoy their time at Terra Palm Springs and go home feeling refreshed, renewed, and excited to return. “We want Terra to be a place where you can come over and over again to try the different unique rooms with different amenities,” she said. “Try the indoor soaking tub now and next time the private cold plunge or private firepit.”
