Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Sometimes there are outlier events that aren’t the usual suspects when it comes to entertainment. So, I scoured (hmmm…what? Oh, my AI wants credit) Eventbrite and came up with these. This is, of course, in addition to the insane December events blog — there is so much going on! And I am trying my very, very hardest to jingle your bells this December.

And so, without further ado, here are some “one-offs” as we like to call ’em in the biz (what biz I have no idea):

Special events in Palm Springs

Dec. 6: Wicked (Drag Version). Trio Restaurant. A drag-brunch-style performance spoofing Wicked with camp, costumes, and musical numbers. Trio fell down for a little while as one of the great spots in P.S., but they’re back with a terrific menu and a refreshed look. Tickets from $33.85.

Dec. 7: Amazing Sundays Drag Brunch at Chill Bar Palm Springs. 217 E. Arenas Rd. Weekly drag brunch with rotating queens, brunch cocktails, and high-camp performances. Tickets from $23.18.

Dec. 7:  Bob Mackie – Margaret O’Brien Legend Award Ceremony (MOLA). Palm Springs Cultural Center. A live award event honoring Bob Mackie with stage program, special guests, and fashion legends. Tickets from $28.52.

Dec. 13: Holiday Drag Brunch. Wilma & Frieda Palm Springs. Seasonal brunch with drag performances, holiday numbers, and festive cocktails. Tickets from $23.18.

Here are a few more fun places to check out when you’re downtown day drinking, er, shopping. They might inspire a few holiday present purchases, as well as the consumption of some delicious food/drinks.

On the Mark — Wonderful locally-owned store featuring wine, cheese, meats, and humor. Make sure to check out their specialty teas, there’s one called Sick AF, and more with other sentiments we can’t print. A great place for stocking stuffers and a tasty lunch. Try the housemade pimento cheese, or any cheese that they offer — they’re all fantastic.

You can eat your lunch there or take it over to Downtown Park and have lunch with Marilyn. Oh, I should tell you, they sell some of the most delicious dates you’ll ever try. Ask about them. Or don’t. Just if you’re interested — I don’t wanna be pushy.

Brandini Toffee — Yelp rated it the #1 candy store in California. The toffee isn’t as hard as regular toffee, so it won’t get stuck in your teeth — wait I’m going to add “as easily” to that — won’t get stuck as easily in your teeth because who knows, maybe your teeth have exceptional sticking skills. And I don’t want to let you down. The good news is, you get to try it first and see (then try the popcorn because yuuuummmmy). They ship during the winter, so no worries about overstuffing your carry-on unless you plan on eating it on the way home.

Choose wisely, my friends. Or throw a dart — it all looks like a total blast. You’ll have fun no matter what you do, because it’s Palm Springs. We don’t judge. Most of us are in bed by 8 p.m., so we’re not available to judge you. The clubs are all yours!
